Night Shift Assistant Nurse Manager

WORK SCHEDULE
Full time / 100% FTE
Three 12 hour shifts per week, plus an additional 4 hours per week of administrative time
Night shifts only
ABOUT OUR SPECIAL CARE UNIT
We are a stepdown, progressive care floor with telemetry services
We offer 17 individual rooms for patients
We consistently hold 1:3 and 1:4 nurse to patient ratios
We pride ourselves on delivering dedicated intermediary care to patients who have been discharged from our ICU and our procedural units
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Supervise a close-knit team that values camaraderie and collaboration
Serve as a clinical resource for RNs and CNAs
Foster a positive work environment and promote staff development
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as a shift supervisor, responsible for clinical functions, staffing assignments, and care coordination
Acts as the main onsite leadership when the Nurse Manager is not present
Collaborates with Nurse Manager on day-to-day operations
Performs patient intakes, evaluations, and assessments
Oversees patient placement and throughput
Plans, implements, and evaluates unit orientation for clinical staff (RNs and CNAs)
Plans and implements educational offerings to enhance the delivery of care
Fosters clinical excellence and incorporates clinical standards into daily practice
Participates in organizational committees, taskforces, and workgroups
Provides performance feedback to the Nurse Manager during annual performance evaluations
Provides “just in time” feedback to staff regarding clinical performance, interpersonal team interactions, and patient communications
Responds appropriately to emergency situations and drills
Promotes practices and decisions that reduce human error and promote patient safety
REQUIREMENTS
2 years of recent RN work experience, including nursing experience on a critical care hospital floor
Previous charge or supervisory nursing experience
ACLS
BLS
Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
