Qualifications:1. High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent, preferred.2. One year experience as a driver, preferred.3. Criminal background check required for hire.4. Valid Colorado driver's license.5. CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days6. District's School Bus Driver Training Program required for hire.7. Must pass annual CDE written test.8. Must pass annual driving performance test.9. Must pass small vehicle driver physical.10. Must have a record of safe driving per motor vehicle record check.11. Must pass drug/alcohol screen per Board Policy EEAEAA and EEAEAA-R.
Job Goals:Responsible for driving Type A small school buses and other small vehicles, maintaining order, exercising appropriate discipline and ensuring the safety and welfare of all passengers. Provide safe transportation of children on district owned vehicles.
Essential Job Functions:1. Safely operate Type A small school buses and other small vehicles in various weather conditions.2. Maintain control of passenger conduct and ensure safety of passengers while in route. Implement discipline as necessary.3. Monitor student behavior and maintain order and discipline in small vehicles.4. Provide driving or monitor coverage for various routes, trips, night activities, tutoring as needed.5. Inspect and ensure that all equipment, instruments, safety devices, and vehicles meet requirements and are operating properly before and after driving duties. Maintain adequate levels of fuel, engine oil, and coolant.6. Perform pre-trip, post trip and mountain pass inspections of district vehicles to comply with CDE and District 8 regulations, policies and standards.7. Inspect and ensure the interior and exterior cleanliness of the assigned vehicles.8. Communicate with Transportation personnel, students and school officials.9. Report emergencies, breakdowns, delays, and/or accidents timely to the Transportation Supervisor.10. Attend safety and in-service meetings.11. Prepare for and execute emergency bus evacuation drills12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to meet on-time schedules and find safe and efficient routes to various destinations.9. Available to drive routes, athletic trips and fields trips at various hours and days including evenings, weekends, holidays and overnight.10. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.11. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.12. Ability to manage multiple priorities.13. Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.14. Ability to work positively and constructively with students and staff with diverse backgrounds and abilities.15. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building and department procedures.16. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.17. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.18. History of consistent attendance and punctuality.
Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Salary:Small Vehicle Drivers are on the Classified Salary Schedule.- FFC8 allows new hires to bring in up to 8 years of previous experience in similar school type settings.- Please understand that new hires tend to start out at the lower end of the salary range
