department of Anesthesia handles over 5500 cases annually and averages about 480 cases per month as a Trauma 1 Center. There are two types of calls: OR and OB call. Both are 24 hour calls weekdays 7a-7p and weekends 8a-8p. Calls average about 3-4 per month. We do have flexibility to accommodate more or less calls per month. Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.
Responsibilities
Accept clinical supervison of the OR and R.R in the absence of the chief of Service or Director of Recovery Room
Supervision of CRNA staff, resident, medical student and student nurse anesthetists in the clinical area
Ongoing participation in the departmental Quality Assurance program
Membership in appropriate committees, as requested by the Chief of Service and/or Chairperson
Clinical resource for all levels of trainees
Participation in the didactic portion of resident, student nurse anesthetist and medical students' educational programs
Time not spent in direct patient care will be devoted to appropriate administrative, educational and/or research activities
Will enfore department's policies and procedures
Will be the Administrative Physician in Charge of the OR when assigned
Coordinate and supervise the daily scheduling of Faculty, Residents and CRNAs when in charge
Coordinate personnel (i.e. Faculty, Residents, CRNAs) on a daily basis. The Director can recommend to the Vice Chairman of Clinical Affairs that faculty and resident nonclinical time be taken to meet clinical duties
Supervise the technical coordinator to maintain, procure and update anesthesia equipment (e.g., monitors, machines, supplies, etc.)
Work closely with the OR nursing supervisor and administrator to faciliate scheduling and to maximize the utilization of anesthesia personnel and to enforce OR committee rules and regulations
Represent faculty concerns to the Chief of Service
Represent department in hospital wide committee
Responsible for daily A.M conference when in chage
Orient, supervise and assst junior faculty as appropriate
Implement the medical student program as directed by the Director of the Medical Student Education Progam/Educational Coordinator
Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine
Completed residency training in an accredited program within Anesthesiology
License to practice medicine in the State of New York
Must be board-certified in Anesthesiology
Wages and Benefits include:
Annual Base Salary: $410,000* based on 40-hour work week.
The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $444,500**,
which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below;
401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
