This leader will play a pivotal role in crafting Generac’s Industrial “Virtual Power Plant (VPP) friendly OEM” growth strategy regarding energy services, solutions, strategic market participation, and go to market for our Distributed Energy Resource (DER) offering creation. Leading this effort for the Strategic Programs team, you will use your VPP / energy markets knowledge, technical expertise, strategic vision, and a collaborative leadership style to develop and drive the company’s ability to deliver these innovative energy solutions for our customers.
Major Responsibilities
Designs and directs the work of the Industrial Strategic Programs markets and energy solutions team. Selects, coaches, and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development. Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance is systematically improved.
Develops and/or recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
Additional responsibilities include:
Partner with the Strategic Programs team VP to establish and execute the strategy for the group.
Lead the markets and energy solutions team for the Industrial business group.
Development and execution of market specific offerings to drive VPP solutions and Generac equipment sell through.
Work closely with the Industrial Direct Sales and Channel Sales teams to evaluate and develop energy solution offerings for our customers.
Originate and engage with customers during business development activities.
Assist with vetting and securing strategic market partners (ie Financing, Solar PV, BESS, switchgear, grid services, etc.).
Support Corporate Development strategic investment projects for the Industrial team.
Build out the regional markets and energy solutions team.
Support corporate regulatory team to drive state, ISO/RTO, and federal policy which supports the corporate vision and strategy for industrial VPP adoption
Attend and represent key conferences and workshops representing Generac as an industry and thought leader
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education
Bachelor's degree in business and / or energy markets. At least 10 years in a related field can substitute for a degree in business or energy markets.
Work Experience
10+ years relevant experience in energy markets, program origination, power generation, preferably in distributed energy technologies and microgrids, with demonstrated increases of leadership responsibility. The ideal candidate needs to have broad experience which includes retail and wholesale power and gas products, strong knowledge of various ISO's and markets in North America, energy products including demand response and ancillary services, renewable and conventional generation technologies (IFM and BTM), structuring, financing, grants and incentives, and various types of contracting solutions. The ideal candidate will also possess an entrepreneurial, self-directed spirit and proven track record of project execution, with exceptional interpersonal and communications (verbal and written) skills.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
Physical Demands
: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
