Substitute Nurse

LOCATION:
All schools are currently seeking substitute nurses. Substitute nurses may choose to work in a specific school or schools, or to work in all of the district schools.
Scope of Responsibilities: First Aid & Emergency Care Nursing assessment, interventions, and assessment of response to interventions for chronic and emergency care Nursing physical and mental health assessment for referral to treatment as needed Medication administration according to Massachusetts Laws and Regulations Communication with staff regarding students with potentially life-threatening conditions including but not limited to diabetes, life-threatening allergies, seizure disorder, and asthma Planning for students with chronic health conditions Communication with parents/guardians when a student is ill or injured Documentation of nursing services Educating staff on student health plans and medical emergency preparedness Interpreting health data including but not limited to health history, immunization status, and screening results Managing communicable diseases in accordance with guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Hanover Board of Health and the Centers for Disease Control
Qualifications : Valid Massachusetts License as a Registered Nurse and CPR Certification.
Supervision Received:
The school nurse reports to the Principal of the school building and the District Nurse Leader. School physicians are also available for consultation.
