Senior Research Coordinator, Global Health ResearchResearch Professional 3, 8352P3Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000Specialty: Research Project Management (See pg. 4 for specialty options)
The Center for Global Health and Social Responsibility (CGHSR) is seeking a Research Professional 3 to advance and operationalize global health research initiatives.
This role partially (50%) supports PI Dr. Kumi Smith in operationalizing her recently awarded NIH R01 to investigate HIV stigma among populations in the Guangdong Province of China in order to develop comprehensively effective interventions.
An ideal candidate has experience working in global health, public health, or academic research settings. The position is 100% time and will be primarily remote with periodic in-person meetings. The candidate does not need to reside in Minnesota and there is a possibility of international travel. A cover letter is required. Salary range $60K-$80K depending on qualifications. The position has funding for 4 to 5 years, contingent upon a 6-month probationary period and successful completion of duties.
R01 Grant Research Coordination - 50%Work with PI to develop and implement comprehensive timelines, budgets, project plans, and to assign and monitor resources and workflow to meet grant deliverables.Position is responsible for interacting with UMN IRB, SPA, both SPH and CGHSR finance teams, grant sub-awardees and coordinating with the Guangzhou-based teams overseeing the field activities across study sites in the Guangdong Province.Administrative:Maintain study timelines and benchmarks.Adhere to NIH timelines and maintain NIH or other reporting schedules.Summarize and identify action steps/to do items for each meeting along with necessary timelines.Assist study team in preparation of study materials (e.g. surveys, recruitment posters) and study dissemination efforts (e.g. conference posters, scientific manuscripts, conference presentations).Organize travel for the team (if needed).
Financial:Effectively track and manage budget expenditures and any reporting requirements either from NIH or the local entity.Monitor the budget and ensuring compliance and accuracy.Process invoices, purchase orders, and expenses in collaboration with SPH and CGHSR finance teams.
Regulatory:Support the data management team in data collection, entry, and management tasks.Prepare and maintain documentation through study closure.Oversee IRB approval for UMN including initial approval, revisions, and support in possible audits.Coordinate data usage and sharing agreements between UMN and external partners.
CGHSR Research Portfolio Coordination-40%In collaboration with Sr. Research Coordinator-China and Asia Initiatives, support faculty, graduate and postdoc students engaged in the Chiang Mai University-University of Minnesota Research Collaborative.Assist with meeting and travel coordination for international delegations visiting UMN, secure requisite documentations for visas as necessary.In collaboration with the CGHSR research team, support the promotion, review process, financial management and communications for research Seed Grants and Seed to R01 Accelerator Grants.Coordinate and participate in project management consultations with award recipients, including providing guidance on international research budgeting and IRB considerations.Participate in designing evaluations and collecting data for monitoring & evaluation efforts for past grantees.Collaborate with CGHSR research team and faculty stakeholders to develop guidelines and protocols to support post docs and junior faculty new to global health research.Work collaboratively with Sr. Program Manager, Global Health Research and Sr. Research Coordinator, China and Asia Initiatives to identify gaps and opportunities to advance Center research portfolio.Engage in process improvement efforts to strengthen research grant programs and further support UMN faculty engaged in GH research.Administration & Funding Support -10%Contribute to Center-wide efforts such as planning, reporting, communications, and budgeting.Manage vendors, contractors, technology specialists, etc. as needed.Draft reports and funding applications as required.Participate in University-wide and ad-hoc workgroups as requested.Keep current with developments in the field and continued professional development.Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree plus 4 years professional experience, or advanced degree plus 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal eight yearsAt least 2 years experience working in a global health, public health, comparative or international research, academic or NGOs setting.Demonstrated experience with grants, technical writing and reviewing, budget development.Proficient with various technology applications including MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), Internet applications, data entry, email, calendaring, database software.Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including faculty, colleagues, community organizations, global partners, and funding agencies.Ability to manage work amidst changing priorities and ambiguous environment.Demonstrated ability to analyze, design and optimize complex processes.Ability to host and lead virtual meetings.Ability to work some evenings and weekends to support international collaborations.Preferred QualificationsExcellent demonstrated oral and written communication skills including proofreading, spelling, and grammar on telephone, email, and face-to face.Experience working with diverse and global communities.Experience with human-subjects related research projects.Proven ability to work independently; high level of self-motivation.Excellent organizational skills, including time management and ability to manage multiple project deadlines.Highly developed interpersonal skills.Ability to travel internationally (upon need).
