Department Overview
The respiratory care discipline at Children's is generating a new perspective with cutting-edge clinical and diagnostic services including the development of clinical treatment protocols for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. Respiratory care is provided in a collaborative environment where the clinical and technical expertise of the respiratory care staff is valued by nursing and physician professionals. Respiratory care staff are encouraged to participate in clinical and operational processes, education of peers and patients, and research activities. Respiratory care plays a vital role in Children's national recognition for patient safety and family-centered care.
Respiratory therapists are involved in airway management, ventilatory support (including high frequency and NAVA), asthma education, point of care testing, cystic fibrosis disease management, and emergency respiratory interventions. We are a vital part of the rapid response team and the code team.

Position SummaryThe Respiratory Therapist performs specific respiratory care duties and responsibilities under the supervision of the medical director. The Respiratory Therapist must be able to adapt to the particular area of duty assignment and must be able to perform special duties required by the assignment. The Respiratory Therapist performs all respiratory care procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures
The Respiratory Therapist must have advanced knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology and other sciences related to respiratory care and be able to demonstrate these to others. A thorough understanding of the drugs used in respiratory care procedures is required. The Respiratory Therapist must exhibit mature judgment, honesty, integrity and a high sense of responsibility. Work must be performed with a high degree of accuracy and particular attention to detail. The Respiratory Therapist must be able to use tact and judgment when dealing with physicians, nurses, other hospital employees, patients and their families. The verbal ability to explain various procedures being performed or demonstrated to other employees, patients and their families is essential.

Scheduling for our team is focused on consistency and maintaining a work/life balance.
Our scheduling team builds out schedules in 12-week blocks. For this role, you’ll work 12 hour shifts and every third weekend.
