What You'll Do in this role:
Collaborate with experienced Loan Officers on marketing and loan origination
Manage portfolios while providing agricultural and financial expertise
Build and nurture strong relationships with customers and prospects
Combine your agricultural and business knowledge to offer innovative solutions
Gain experience through cross-training in various positions, including Sales, Credit, and Crop Insurance
The minimum starting salary for this position is $60,000, however salary is commensurate with experience.

Initial training location for this Loan Officer Trainee position will be located within our Southwest Missouri Territory in our Lebanon or Springfield Branch. Other office locations may be considered for the initial training period based on the candidates experience and knowledge.
A permanent location will be identified after the trainee period is complete. Permanent location can be located within any of our branch office locations.

This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Loan Origination/Portfolio Management
Meets with current and new customers to gather, update, and review financial and scope of operation information to determine eligibility
Completes the Farm Credit Services (FCS) application process in order to submit to the credit department
Services loans, including partial releases, collateral substitutions, changes in payment and maturity dates, extensions and conversions
Determines location for loan closing and coordinates schedules to ensure loan closing time and location meets customer needs.

Marketing and Sales
Represents and promotes FCS Financial at agricultural organization meetings and events
Attends auctions and sale barns to promote FCS services and products
Determines appropriate sales approach for potential or current customers
Determines potential business opportunities by visiting farms and prospecting
Contacts internal resources (credit, appraisal, crop insurance, customer service) to coordinate activities ensure customer needs are met
Contacts external resources (FSA, title companies, surveyors, legal counsel, appraisers, CPA's) to coordinate activities and ensure customer needs are met

Chattel and Collateral Valuations
Performs Chattel (cattle, crops, machinery) and Collateral valuations (real estate)
Determines value using external resources such as websites, local grain market, livestock facilities, and the internal appraisal manual for real estate

Training, Education and Development
Attends loan officer development training courses as applicable or assigned
Works directly with FSO/AVP/VP through the entire loan process from beginning to end
Sits in on customer meetings with the FSO/AVP/VP to observe loan officer-customer interactions
Takes on new responsibilities as their experience grows, eventually meeting with customers and taking loans from application to closing
Support team/branches on an as needed basis

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business or a related field
Willing to relocate
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
Required Knowledge and Skills
General knowledge of the sales process
General knowledge of negotiating tactics
General knowledge of marketing strategies
General knowledge of financial services industry
General knowledge of the agricultural industry
General knowledge of basic accounting principles
Skill in negotiating agreements to achieve the best outcome for the organization
Skill in using Microsoft technologies including Outlook, Word and Excel
Skill in listening and conveying awareness of a customer's problem or issue to find resolution
Oral and written communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics, and to effectively communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences
Ability to learn and retain Association policies and procedures, and the ability to adapt to new policies and procedures quickly.
Responsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association's systems and data and clients' data
