Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to investigate for maximum reimbursement of hospital costs for admissions to facilities associated with the Financial Agent's Office located at Spring Grove Hospital Center with possible travel to other Financial Agent's offices located throughout Maryland.
This position will investigate for eligibility and certify qualified applicants in the Maryland Medical Assistance Program.
This position will also complete all required forms and reports associated with the investigations and rate setting in accordance with COMAR regulations and Title XVI of the Health & General Articles of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
In addition, this position will follow State of Maryland procedures involving rate appeals and the referring of delinquent balances for abatement consideration or collections.
PLEASE NOTE : This position is hybrid telework eligible after the probationary period.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education : A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience : None.
Note : Candidates may substitute experience in health care financing work on the life/health insurance fields in the investigation and/or adjustment of claims, at the rate of one year for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle, Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland, and to have access to a vehicle for daily use.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
