THIS IS A NIGHT SHIFT POSITION

POSITION SUMMARYThe Fitter is responsible for understanding blueprints and welding techniques to execute the highest standards of welding performance.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Interpret blueprints to fabricate structural steelDetermine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirementsOperate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be weldedWeld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.Set up components for welding equipment in accordance to specifications (e.g. cut material with gad torch to match measurements)Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flawsMaintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safetyEnsure work is done safely and meets quality standardsKeep work areas clean and organized
REQUIREMENTS:Proven experience as welderExperience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (flux-core, MIG weld)Experience in using electrical or manual tools (grinder, squares, tape measure, hand tools)Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawingsKnowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)Attention to detailAbility to learn safe overhead crane operationsProficient in EnglishProfessional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalentPrior experience using overhead cranes is preferredPrior experience in a similar role is preferred
OTHER SKILLSStrong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to work effectively with others. While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to squat, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach. Lifting is required up to 75 lbs. Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.
WORK ENVIRONMENTPosition performs work mostly in the shop setting which includes a variety of working conditions. These include the following conditions: noise level fluctuations from moderate to high, use of personal protective equipment, machine/equipment use. Position involves everyday risks or exposure to elements that require safety precautions. Position will be required to work in adverse weather conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, precipitation, etc.
