Job Summary :
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Low Vision Optometrist to join our team on a PRN (as needed) basis. This role presents an excellent opportunity to work in a specialized setting, delivering essential care to patients with low vision, while also expanding your experience in vision therapy and neuro-optometry. Essential Functions : Provide outpatient care for patients with eye-related disorders and conditions Conduct comprehensive eye exams, including visual field tests, and analyze results Diagnose vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, eye diseases (e.g., glaucoma), and neuro-optometric issues Provide treatments, including low-vision rehabilitation, vision therapy, and neuro-optometric rehabilitation when needed Review detailed medical histories for all patients, including current and past medications Evaluate eye symptoms, such as discharge, redness, inflammation, or visual disturbances due to neurological conditions Prescribe corrective lenses, low vision devices, and other optical aids to enhance quality of life for patients Refer patients to ophthalmologists or neuro-specialists as needed for holistic care Educate patients on proper eye care practices, hygiene, and the use of assistive devices Vision Therapy and Neuro-Optometry :
Offer vision therapy services for patients experiencing binocular vision disorders or eye alignment issues Provide neuro-optometric rehabilitation for individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries, strokes, or neurological conditions affecting vision Collaborate with neuro-specialists and rehabilitation teams to create customized care plans Additional Functions :
Market low vision, vision therapy, and neuro-optometric rehabilitation services within the medical community Network with eye care and neurological professionals to build referral relationships Participate in agency events, including public speaking engagements and presenting at eye care or neuro-optometric association meetings Qualifications :
State-issued license for optometry (O.D.) in Missouri and Kansas Training or strong interest in low vision care, vision therapy, and neuro-optometry 5+ years of experience as an optometrist preferred Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
