Description NURSING SUPERVISORPosition SummaryWe are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable candidate in the oversight, training and development of nursing staff in congregate care settings. Guides and provides health management support for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The Nursing Supervisor will provide leadership and develop quality assurance initiatives to ensure that all sites are meeting regulatory standards while providing guidance and support to the nursing staff to ensure the highest level of health care.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and manage the nursing staff and provide training and support as necessary.Develop and implement policies and procedures related to nursing careEnsure the staff are properly trained and provide ongoing education.Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure residences meet all regulatory standards.Promotes and restores patients' health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of individual care.Hires, onboards, directs, mentors, develops, and coordinates nursing staff, including communicating job expectations, establishes department goals, sets performance standards and completes performance reviews.Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff to implement patient care.Provides physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families.Meets nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; and identifying system improvements.Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations, measuring health outcomes against standards, and making or recommending adjustments.Promotes patients' independence by establishing individual care goals, teaching and counseling nurses and staff to reinforce their understanding of disease, medications, and self-care skills.Helps to resolve individual needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.Maintains safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures.Protects individuals and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, and by enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests, and participating in team problem-solving methods.

Education and Licensing RequirementsRegistered NurseActive applicable state licensureAmerica Heart Association issued BLS and ACLSNY Infection Control Certification.

Experience RequirementsFive years nursing and additionally two years nursing supervisory experience.Knowledge of OPWDD health regulations, policies and proceduresMental Health background.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Able to work autonomously and as part of an IDT.Maintains a strong focus on health promotion and maintenance.Strong Leadership and Mentorship capabilities.Diverse Clinical Skills.
