The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Family & Community Medicine, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator. Penn State College of Medicine (PSCOM) is one (1) of six (6) participating institutions in a large, six-site nationwide, PCORI-funded randomized controlled trial (RCT) designed to improve outcomes for patients with acute rhinosinusitis (ARS). The success of this project will depend on our PSCOM- and PSH-specific procedures working at the individual clinic/site level, and our ability to optimize study procedures with minimal impact to existing clinical workflows across six (6) participating Family & Community Medicine clinics. The CRC will provide a level of operational oversight, clinic-level implementation, and patient-facing responsibilities (e.g., data, sample collection; trial enrollment, etc.). In addition, they should have proficient ability with the following tasks and skills:
Ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks and priorities in a professional manner.Experience with research governance, regulations, University policies, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements & processes.Management of research data and protocols across a variety of study designs and research methodologies.Overseeing daily project operations (budgets, timelines, standard operating procedures, project reporting), and relationships with internal departments and external entities supporting project implementation.Coordinating with internal and external entities to establish contracts and agreements, and development of marketing materials.Study management including database development, implementation, quality control, and support. Preference toward experience with existing internal Penn State HMC software (e.g., REDCap).Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, NVivo), and statistical analysis methods and report preparation; advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Creative Cloud functions; familiarity with the University's Strategic Information Management System (SIMS) and accounting procedures and systems (SIMBA) for reporting and budgets.Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills - the ability to work in a team environment, the ability to establish relationships and interact effectively with clinic staff, the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with clinic patients, and the ability to contribute to the Penn State FCM's missions.Excellent writing skills, able to aid development and writing of literature reviews, IRB protocols, manuscripts and grants; demonstrated authorship of scientific, peer-reviewed publications is a plus.This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.
Candidates should be able to work independently and have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment, and the ability to contribute to FCM's missions. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, descriptive statistics, and Penn State COM IRB are preferred.
