Fleet Maintenance Manager

to oversee the maintenance and operation of our fleet of waste collection vehicles.

Your Role:

The Maintenance Manager plans, organizes and supervises the Division's maintenance staff and functions. This management position holds responsible for overall fleet/equipment support and associated maintenance processes that include inspection, repair, pre/post servicing, vehicle distribution, quality assurance and disposal Perform diagnostic tests on garbage trucks and other diesel-powered equipment to identify issues.

Oversee the maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles, ensuring they are safe and operationalDevelop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifeManage and supervise a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance and supportMonitor and analyze fleet performance metrics, identifying areas for improvementEnsure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT requirementsCoordinate with operations and logistics teams to optimize fleet utilization and efficiencyMaintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspectionsManage the budget for fleet operations, including parts, labor, and equipment costsDevelop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers for parts and servicesConduct regular safety training and ensure adherence to safety protocolsQualifications

What We're Looking For:

High school diploma or equivalentProven experience as a technician, preferably in the waste management or transportation industryStrong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and vehicle maintenanceKnowledge of heating and air conditioning systems, emission systems, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic and electrical systems. Experience leading a team also helpful.Excellent leadership and team management skillsProficiency in using fleet management software and other relevant computer applicationsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and make decisions under pressure
