Job DescriptionPosition Overview:Manages and directs the quality department relating to inspection, laboratory testing, and statistical process control within the plant. Also responsible for implementing, maintaining, and modifying the plant's quality management system to improve business operating systems and to meet the requirements of customers and best practice audits.Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Manage the plant quality control department and supervise the quality coworkersCoordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plants to maximize product reliability and minimize costsDesign, implement and direct the quality assurance program for the plant, including but not limited to plant management responsibilities, and, document and data controlInspect of incoming purchased materials, work-in-process material, rework materials and finished goods and assure the required level of quality through visual inspection, statistical sampling and laboratory testing of materials. Ascertain the reasons for nonconforming materials.Control of customer supplied materials and nonconforming product/materialEstablish/monitor/maintain statistical process control (SPC) programs. Advise and instruct local managers in utilization of SPC dataMaintain access to the Amcor corporate database that houses customer specifications and our established guidelines for achieving those requirements related to product safety, quality, legality, process and specification (Windchill and RealSPC or corporate approved equivalent software applications)Provide consistent ongoing analysis of process capability (CPK) statistics. Determine, recommend, and assist in continuous improvement programs to meet plant/division quality objective and advise the plant manager of appropriate action plans. Suggest improvements in procedures and techniques to improve product and customer acceptance.Establish/monitor and control hold for inspection (HFI) procedures to ensure nonconforming materials do not enter the production process and are properly identified and segregated.Analyze quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management or staff.Internal quality audits (housekeeping, Good Manufacturing Practices - GMP, etc.)Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's Degree Engineering or a related technical field5 years experience in a quality assurance roleExperience with ISO quality systems or AIB International, Inc. Experience with AVID systems helpful.Knowledge of SPC (statistical process control), various testing/ troubleshooting methodsKnowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. Salary decisions are based on each job. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location.
