Mission or Goal of Unit:

The mission of the Department of Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient centered neurological care for adults, perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the next generation of neurologists and clinical neuroscientists. The Department of Neurology is committed to enhancing diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. Chief Purpose of this position:

This Department of Neurology seeks candidates for an Open Rank, (rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications) full-time faculty position in the Division of MS/Neuroimmunology. The faculty member will provide patient care, engage with medical students, neurology residents and fellows and participate in clinical research.

Position Responsibilities:

ClinicalPrimary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

TeachingFaculty member will teach medical students and housestaff. They will be expected to participate in a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and students emphasizing issues in MS/Neuroimmunology. They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested.

ResearchThe Division of MS/Neuroimmunology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in and, when appropriate, lead, clinical research and clinical trials.

ServiceFaculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field (e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

MD or MD/PhD degree (or equivalent)BC/BE in NeurologyCompletion of a Neuroimmunology/MS Fellowship Training ProgramDemonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
