#CA-SSThe Respiratory Therapist (RT) 2 serves as a role model and resource that assists and supports the clinical team. They help to ensure consistently high-quality care and facilitate excellent clinical respiratory care services. The RT 2 is responsible for providing direct patient care and assessment; interdisciplinary consultation, oversight for technical and clinical performance, support clinical activity of staff as directed by leadership and performance improvement monitoring. Clinicians provide a full range of cardiopulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients of all age groups. They obtain, review and interpret data and assess the need for and response to respiratory care interventions in consultation and conjunction with medical, nursing and other disciplines to optimize patient care planning and delivery. They respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies, provide airway maintenance, manual and mechanical ventilator support using a variety of devices and techniques and administer oxygen and other therapeutic gases, humidity therapy, inhaled aerosol medications, bronchial hygiene, lung expansion therapies and instruct patient's family and continuing care providers in the administration of respiratory procedures and the proper use of respiratory therapy equipment and supplies. The RT 2 assures that ventilators are patient ready and calibrated, sent to Clinical Engineering as appropriate and help assure that medical supplies and equipment are available for patient care. In the absence of a Respiratory Care Supervisor 2 the RT 2 functions as a relief supervisor. The RT 2 may be asked, per operational needs, to focus their leadership and educational duties for periods of time on relief charge, precepting, training and education, mentorship, or specialty areas of practice such as pediatric care.Apply By Date
