Job Title: Physical Therapist-Homes County Medical Center-Part Time

Job Summary: Provide physical therapy services to individuals who have impairments, functional limitations, or changes in physical function and health status, resulting from injury, disease, or other causes with the goal of improving functional outcomes. Provide education to other medical professionals and provide prevention and wellness services including screenings and health promotions.

Education & Experience

Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

Mississippi licensure within the applicable time frame.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical dysfunctions. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and/or kinesiology. Skill in performing manual physical therapy treatment programs. Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress. Ability to instruct and motivate patients. Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate patients.

Responsibilities

Synthesize complex medical data and utilize results to administer appropriate tests and examination of patients physical and cognitive status Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning to develop comprehensive plan of care. Develop and update appropriate plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family as related to the patient's age and lifestyle with measurable long and short term goals and defined discharge plan. Clinical practice reflects critical thinking skills, communication skills and safe clinical practice. Utilize appropriate methods, materials, and treatment techniques for effective learning. Monitor response to education and adapt program appropriately. Ensure that patient/family verbalizes and/or demonstrates the understanding of the education/information provided. Reassess patient status and revise intervention and goals as appropriate. Discharge patient when goals have been met or when medical necessity in no longer indicated. Ensure that patient care documentation, is timely, legible and efficient. Demonstrate concise and pertinent documentation that meets the profession's and department's documentation standards. Provide clear, concise and pertinent oral reports. Utilize sound clinical judgement to assess/recommend appropriate assistive device, prosthetic, and/or orthotic, in order to improve patient's functional status. Provide training and supervision in therapy techniques and objectives for students and other medical staff. Collaborate and communicate effectively with other members of the health care team regarding the patient's treatment program. Consistently meet patient care productivity standards as established for job classification. Work cooperatively with supervisor and peers to contribute to the overall productivity of the team. Requires occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, frequent crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, constant standing, frequent twisting, and constant walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
