QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess or be eligible for valid Washington State E.S.A. Occupational Therapist Certificate.Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred.Must possess a state occupational therapist license.Washington Department of Health License required.Knowledge/experience in identifying students with exceptional needs.Demonstrated ability to maintain individual case records as required by law.Demonstrated ability to work directly with Special Services personnel, parents, and school staff when developing individual education programs for students with disabilities.Demonstrated ability to conduct appropriate testing, diagnosis and evaluation activities of students with disabilities.Demonstrated evidence of child development and management skills.Successful therapy experience in educational setting preferred.Willingness to participate in professional meetings designed to upgrade professional awareness and skills.Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and evaluate students.Physically capable of conducting therapy which could include lifting up to 40 pounds.Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities between health care and physical therapy personnel.Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel between buildings.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize and conduct an identification program for physical therapy services by utilizing appropriate evaluation criteria, materials, procedures, and record keeping.Consult with parents, staff and administration regarding student needs.Select and employ appropriate diagnostic procedures and develop guidelines for a comprehensive program.Prepare IEP goals and objectives and maintain progress data to meet the individual needs of students receiving direct services from the physical therapist.Understand and comply with current legislation on children with disabilities.Complete all required reports and records in a timely and accurate manner.Provide supervision to physical therapy assistants as per ethical and state guidelines.Provide physical therapy services in classroom and individual settings.Consult with school staff on appropriate practice for students with disabilities.Function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and as a member of a team providing motor services to students with disabilities.Follow Code of Ethics and maintain a high standard of professional behavior.
