Warehouse Yard Dog/Jockey (2nd Shift)

Hours:2nd Shift: 2pm-10:30pm
The Warehouse Yard Dog is responsible for knowing and being able to perform all functions within the warehouse including the safe and accurate movement of trailers within the yard and accurate cycle counting. In addition, this position requires the willingness to work in the freezer and rotate positions in order to maintain optimal skill level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time-to-time.Responsible for safely spotting trailers to ensure the timely flow of materials.Responsible for placement of jack stands, wheel chocks and glad hand locks.Completion of daily yard activity logs and required equipment inspections.Preparing trailers for loading including cleaning when necessary and working with refrigerated units to ensure proper material storage.Fills in where needed on dock, cooler or freezer when not operating yard dogREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must have excellent safety awareness and the ability to operate a tractor trailer and dock equipment in a congested area.Requires strong, focused attention to detail.Must have adequate communication skills to be able to understand spoken instruction and provide verbal feedback.Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English to operate the warehouse management tools and system effectively.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalentLicenses or Certifications:A valid Class A CDL from the state of residence is desired.Requires prior certification and/or the ability to pass a forklift operator course and be certified to operate powered industrial equipment.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the responsibilities of Warehouse Yard Dog, the employee must be able to repeatedly climb in and out of the yard tractor and perform some physical duties. Employee must be able to operate various forms of material handling equipment including motorized and manual pallet jacks and forklifts.

Long hours of physical and mental activity are frequent.Deadlines are short and information accuracy is critical, which makes for a stressful work environment on a daily basis.Cooler environment with temperatures around 40° F.Frequent work in a freezer environment, -10° F, is expected.Some of the expected work occurs outside and employee will be exposed to the elements to perform some aspects of the job.The noise level is moderate. Hearing protection is provided and must be worn in all production areas of the facility.
