Administrative FunctionsEscorts/transports residents to/from medical appointments and/or leisure outings as directed by the Activities Coordinator with assistance from activity department and volunteers.Conducts errands for facility as directed by Administrative Secretary.Complete in-service education programs on an annual basis.Maintain an excellent working relationship with other departmental staff.Follow all facility policies and procedures.Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facility staff, physicians and ancillary service providers.Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.Come to work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.Assume accountability for data contained in the employees' handbook.Work as a member of the Forest Hill team to help reinforce a culture of safety in the Department and organization wide.Responsible for patient and employee safety as it applies to their work environment.Committee Functions

Attend departmental meetings as scheduled or as may be called.Safety and Sanitation

Follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.Report all incidents/accidents immediately.Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions/equipment immediately.Resident's Rights

Read and adhere to facility's Residents Right Policy.Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.Working Conditions

Works in well-lighted/ventilated office areas, as well as throughout the facility.Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.Is willing to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis B viruses.Specific Requirements

Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner.Must have some understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational needs of the aged.Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, volunteers, government agencies/personnel and the general public.Must maintain the area and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of activity areas.Must have patience, tack, cheerful disposition, motivation and enthusiasm, as well as willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.Must poses the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity programs.Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.Obtain CPR certification within 6 months of hire date and keep certification current while employed.Physical Requirements

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met, to include the use of maintenance equipment and supplies.Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel, volunteers and support agencies.Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fifty (30) pounds throughout the workday.Requirements

Education

Must possess, as a minimum, a High School Diploma.Must have a valid drivers' license.Experience

Experience in a nursing/skilled facility preferred.
