For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.The salary range for this position is $212,558 - $232,039 (Annual Rate).To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/compensation-and-benefits/index.htmlDepartment DescriptionThe Operating Room (OR) at Mount Zion (MZ) is an inpatient care facility and it's comprised of 10 suites performing procedures and surgery in breast /plastics, endocrine, otology / head / neck / sinus (OHNS), benign gynecology, ophthalmology, minimally invasive spine, pain services, radiation oncology and orthopedic surgery.
The Mount Zion OR serves patients of least of 18 years of age and patients must be eligible for surgery on an outpatient, inpatient, or overnight stay basis. The OR has recently redesigned and built two new operating suites, which possess state-of-the-art integrated computer and video systems.
The main focus is on cancer treatment with some surgeon clinics located in the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center building. This is also the primary site for ophthalmology surgery which continues to grow every year. Recently we added orthopedic surgery to our Mount Zion surgical services. There are three sub- specialties in orthopedics: shoulder joint, hand and wrist, and ankle surgery.
The newest technology that has been adopted in the operating room at Mount Zion includes:The newest generation of Ophthalmology Lasers, Microscopes and UltrasoundsSetimag technology which provides ultrasensitive detection of sentinel lymph node in treatment of breast and lymph nodesThe OHNS service performing the (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery) FESS Sinus Endoscopy procedure and Sleep Apnea ProceduresLatest technology in orthopedic surgeryThe OR staff is diverse both in terms of clinical experience, generational representation, and cultural make-up; a number of nurses on this unit possess more than 30 years of experience specifically at Mount Zion. Nurses are technically astute and operating complex equipmentRequired Qualifications3-5 years of progressive nursing management experience with patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies. Charge experience is consideredDemonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies.Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner. Prepares and presents a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments.Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and employee performance.
