Epic Application Coordinator-Epic Clinical Improvement

Location:

Columbus, OHDirect HireResponsibilities:The Clinical Improvement Application Coordinator will collaborate with multi-disciplinary clinical teams and business units to identify system solutions. This role will leverage both logic and creativity to develop presentation, communication, analytical, problem-solving, multi-tasking, decision-making, and process improvement skills. Competencies for each of the areas below are outlined in the Clinical Improvement Career Ladder.System Configuration:

Understand the business functionality relating to configuration and customization of workflows within Epic systems to meet the specific needs of goals outlined by clinical teams.Utilize technical and/or clinical knowledge to design innovative solutions that address clinical challenges and support evidence-based practices.Facilitate the design, configuration, validation, and implementation of new or modified Epic functionality in coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.

Project Coordination:

Collaborate with clinical departments and specialties to analyze existing workflows and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency gains.Develop and deliver presentations to teams, including clinical staff, informatics, and leadership, to gather requirements, demonstrate enhancements, and collaboratively implement solutions that enhance clinical outcomes.Basic understanding of effective communication channels to provide implementation updates to teams.Ability to adapt to evolving priorities in alignment with organizational needs.

Clinical Workflows:

Basic understanding of physician, nursing, and ancillary workflows within inpatient, emergency, and ambulatory settings, including functionalities pertaining to ordering (e.g., order sets, panels) and documentation (e.g., progress notes, after-visit summaries, flowsheets).Leverage knowledge in clinical workflows to inform system configuration decisions effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:Pediatric care strongly desired, a clinical background preferred.Epic certifications in Inpatient Procedure Orders or Inpatient Clinical Documentation are desired.An operational background in Health Information Technology or Quality Assurance is also preferred.Experience interacting with clinical or business areas to gather and understand workflow processes and technical requirements is desired.A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, and clinical licensure and/or other certifications are preferred.Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills are required to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external contacts.Strong skills in using PC desktop applications such as MS Teams, PowerPoint, OneNote, Word, and Excel are preferred.Ability to work flexible schedules to meet job requirements, including occasional after-hours support and optional overnight travel.Minimum Physical Requirements:Position requires ability to talk, listen and type.Position requires the ability to interact effectively with customers and information systems personnel across the organization.
