Rock SpringsWe are seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Subject Matter Expert (SME) in both Cogeneration (Cogen) and Boiler Design & Installation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design, installation, commissioning, and start-up of cogeneration systems and industrial boilers, with a focus on optimizing efficiency, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role will involve leading complex projects from concept through to completion, ensuring successful delivery in a variety of industrial and utility settings.The client does require this person to be onsite, though there may be some exceptions.Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, installation, and commissioning of cogeneration systems, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and documentation for cogeneration projects.Oversee the integration of power generation and thermal systems, including turbines, heat exchangers, and related components.Manage all phases of Cogen projects, from initial concept to final commissioning, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.Identify and mitigate risks associated with cogeneration systems, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Boiler Design & Installation:

Design and oversee the installation of industrial boilers, ensuring they meet the specific needs of each project.Develop and review engineering specifications, drawings, and other documentation related to boiler systems.Ensure that boiler systems are designed for optimal efficiency, safety, and compliance with relevant regulations.Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure timely and accurate installation of boiler systems.Provide technical support and troubleshooting during the installation and commissioning of boiler systems.

Project Management:

Lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders, to ensure successful project execution.Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate potential risks in both Cogen and Boiler projects.Ensure that all projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.

Regulatory and Safety Compliance:

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to cogeneration and boiler systems.Ensure all design and installation work complies with safety standards and industry best practices.Prepare and submit necessary documentation for regulatory approval and compliance.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

Propose and implement innovative solutions to improve the efficiency and performance of both cogeneration and boiler systems.Stay informed about the latest technologies and practices in cogeneration and boiler design and installation.Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality and performance of projects.

Client and Stakeholder Interaction:

Manage client expectations throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that their needs and objectives are met.Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.Foster strong relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.10+ years of experience in designing, installing, and commissioning cogeneration and boiler systems.Extensive knowledge of thermal systems, power generation, and energy efficiency.Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects from concept to completion.Strong understanding of safety and regulatory compliance in the energy sector.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar certifications related to energy systems are a plus.Preferred Experience:

Extensive Experience in Power Generation:

Experience managing and performing engineering, design, and operations modeling for gas-fired combined-cycle, coal-fired, and nuclear power generation plants.Proven Project Management Skills:

Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale projects from concept through completion, with experience managing cross-disciplinary teams.Technical Expertise:

Deep technical knowledge in piping and equipment specification, code compliance (ASME, API, ANSI), hydraulic modeling, heat transfer analysis, and plant efficiency modeling using tools like Gate Cycle, Thermoflex, and PEPSE.Regulatory and Safety Compliance:

Strong background in nuclear plant licensing, regulatory compliance, and operational performance inspections.Broad Industry Experience:

Versatility and adaptability across nuclear, coal, gas, and geothermal projects, including international assignments.Consulting Experience:

Ability to work independently, provide expert advice, and manage complex engineering projects, as demonstrated by running a successful consulting business.How to Apply:
