THE ROLE:
We are seeking a
Senior Tools Engineer
who is experienced in developing game tools and pipelines. This role is for an experienced individual contributor that designs and develops software for our Unreal Editor tools and pipelines. It requires the effective application of solid engineering principles to contribute to a long-term investment in pipelines to support multiple game teams. This role anticipates and identifies current or future needs, then develops sound and often proven solutions with limited direction. A Senior Tools Engineer is expected to solve complex workflow or pipeline issues in a resourceful and efficient way.WHO YOU ARE:Extremely knowledgeable about Unreal Editor.Experience in shipping games and aware of unique challenges at all stages of development.Abreast of cutting-edge technology and game development methodologies.WHAT YOU WILL DO:Work with multiple game teams to identify gaps in pipelines, tools, and workflows.Write and implement clear, maintainable, portable code in C++, C#, Python, and Blueprint.Help teams understand the tools/technology available and how to make the best use of it in their workflows.Work with outsourcing teams to develop content verification and other external pipeline tools.Partner with other central tech teams to build out fully automated tooling when needed.At times, be an embedded resource working closely with the game teams to surface needs.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Requires a minimum of 5 years of related or equivalent work experience.Shipped or directly supported the shipping of multiple game titles.Shipped or directly supported the shipping of 1 game built on Unreal Engine.Have built tools around middleware products such as Jira, P4, Backtrace, CDNs, Jenkins, etc.PREFERRED SKILLS:Experience building tools around monitoring and reporting software such as Ops Genie, Data Dog, etc.About ProbablyMonsters:ProbablyMonsters is a AAA independent video game company that aims to change the way games are made. When an offer is made, many factors are considered, such as your unique experience and skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar jobs pay, internal equity, and what you're looking for.In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for additional incentives, such as a sign-on bonus and short- and long-term incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
