The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of RapidScale managed cloud services. The position will be a key factor in supporting development, design, growth, and stability of RapidScale’s domestic and international data centers infrastructure, specializing in advanced troubleshooting, documentation, and management of the hardware, virtualization, core operating systems, backup, and disaster recovery platforms.Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities (Essential Duties include but are not limited to):Supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of multiple cloud environments within RapidScale’s infrastructure (Virtualization stack, Operating systems, Backups, Disaster Recovery, and Monitoring). Diagnoses and troubleshoots trouble tickets escalated to the Architecture team when necessary. Ensures solutions provide the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness. Document procedures and processes for use by other cloud engineers. Provides support for other Engineers and Architects on the team. Works closely with Architects, Security and Compliance to patch, address and mitigate vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements. Implement Architecture designs and updates. Ensure proper monitoring and alerting configuration of infrastructure components.Minimum:Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years’ experience in a related fieldA proven level of expertise & competence with Infrastructure implementation, operations, monitoring & designAble to handle multiple tasks, manage priorities, and always remain professionalMust possess problem solving for complex problem resolution with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively with little impact to the flow of operationsMust have the ability to distinguish low impact from high impact problems with little directionMust have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to demonstrate a high level of competency with managing technical projects in a high-paced, dynamic environmentMust demonstrate personal motivation and enthusiasmExcellent communication and time management skillsWillingness to work night or weekends as needed and on a 24x7 on-call rotation scheduleTravel up to 10%Ability to prioritize and organize effectivelyAbility to work both independently and with othersRequire limited supervision and direction; drive results, and set priorities independentlyDemonstrated willingness and ability to enhance and expand skillsets to meet organization and new technology demands.Technical Expertise:4+ years of experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter, VCD, NSX) and/or other virtualization technologies4+ years of experience Operating Systems (Windows, Linux)Veeam, Zerto and/or other Backup and DR technologiesStorage Systems (Pure, NetApp, vSAN)Scripting & Automation (PowerShell/PowerCLI, Ansible, REST)Basic to Intermediate networking (VLAN, LACP, etc)Experience with Monitoring Systems and Alerting configurationAzure or AWS experience is a plusExperience working with colocation facilities is a plus
