Plans, coordinates, organizes engineering projects within an area of responsibility.Essential Duties:Follows all safety rules and procedures.Provide technical information for all new services, especially three-phase services.Develops cost estimates as required in determining the most cost-effective methods of construction with regard to upgrading existing facilities or the planning of new facilities.Assist in new subdivision design and development.Designs, stakes, and assists in the design of all major county, state, and federal highway relocation projects involving cooperative facilities. Coordinates the development and implementation of job contracts for these projects.Design and coordinate projects listed within the construction work plan.Designs projects which include large commercial and industrial customers and feeder projects.Assists in the acquisition of right-of-way associated with major system line improvements.Coordinates with Warehouse Coordinators and Line Contractors to ensure the line material requirements for large work orders are met.Manage joint use billing by maintaining records of third-party owned poles and drafting and sending invoices for all joint use pole changes.Assist Manager of Key Accounts with technical expertise for large commercial/industrial members.Performs post-construction work order inspections for a selected sample of work orders on a monthly basis.Provides input and assistance with updating and maintaining Construction Specifications Manual.Represents the Cooperative at various meetings and seminars with some travel required.Acts as On-Call-Advisor on a rotating basis.Complies with Cooperative’s policies prohibiting harassment and discrimination. Complies with Cooperative’s Drug Free Workplace policy, and complies with all policies, safety rules and procedures; and immediately reports possible violations to department VP and VP of HR and Benefits.Attends safety meetings as required. Participates in other training to stay abreast of best practices.Performs other duties as assigned.Equipment Requirements

(must be able to effectively use):Computer, I-Pad, cooperative vehicle and Trimble GPS Unit.Software Requirements

(must be able to effectively use):Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel), GPS Mapping system, UPN, Power Quality Software (Provision), AutoCAD, SCADA Explorer and other equipment programming software.Education Degrees, Certificates, Licenses, and/or Training:Required:Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Technology Degree.Valid Driver’s License.Valid CPR/First-Aid/AED Certification.Preferred:Previous experience in the electrical utility or engineering field.Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Required:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering journals, electrical blueprints, schematic drawings and technical procedures.Ability to calculate figures and amounts, apply advanced mathematical concepts, trigonometry, and geometry.Ability to apply mathematical operations to a variety of tasks, including frequency distribution, analysis of variance, and determination of test reliability.Knowledgeable of the fundamentals of electrical circuitry analysis.Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, members and the public.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.Knowledgeable of RUS specifications and materials used in construction, maintenance and operation of a distribution system.Knowledgeable of service territory, GPS mapping system.Knowledgeable of National Electric Safety Code and OSHA regulations.Ability to safely and properly use tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment required for maintenance and repairs.Ability to exercise independent judgment within parameters of the Cooperative’s policies/procedures.Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, both internally and externally.Physical Requirements

(must be able to):Use both hands and fingers; grip; twist; reach above the head; bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch; and sit and stand for long periods of time; lift, carry, push and pull weights up to 50 lbs.Working Conditions

(must be able to):Work eight hours per day, five days a week.Work overtime as needed, including weekends, nights and holidays.Occasionally works outside and is exposed to outside weather conditions.Residence Requirements

(must be able to):Must live within 30 minutes from the respective operations center to which you are assigned, by the shortest route, or agree to move within a 30-minute response time and continue to live within it, prior to the termination of the six (6) months’ qualification period.Important:This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive; other duties may be required as assigned.
