Information TechnologyJob ID: REQID0002315The Stowers Institute is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mac System Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and supporting macOS environments, ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of Mac systems, servers, and software applications. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle troubleshooting, system management, and user support with efficiency and professionalism.Key Responsibilities:System Management:Manage, configure, and maintain Mac computers and servers within the organization.Perform software installations, updates, and patches on macOS devices.Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to optimize operations.Maintain security protocols, including antivirus, encryption, and user authentication methods.User Support and Troubleshooting:Provide technical support to end-users for macOS-related issues, both in person and remotely.Resolve hardware and software problems, network connectivity issues, and application-related errors.Assist users with the setup and configuration of Mac devices, ensuring all systems are functioning correctly.Network and Integration:Collaborate with the network team to integrate Mac systems with the company’s network infrastructure.Ensure seamless connectivity and compatibility between Mac devices and other IT systems (e.g., Windows servers, printers, storage devices).Manage and support VPN access for Mac users.Data Management and Backup:Implement and maintain backup solutions for Mac systems to ensure data integrity and availability.Develop and enforce data recovery and backup protocols.Documentation and Reporting:Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.Provide regular reports on system status, incidents, and maintenance activities.Training and Development:Conduct training sessions for employees on macOS best practices and system usage.Stay updated with the latest developments in macOS technology and recommend improvements or upgrades.Requirements:Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.Minimum of 3 years of experience in Mac system administration or a similar role.Technical Skills:Extensive knowledge of macOS operating systems, system configurations, and troubleshooting.Familiarity with Apple hardware (MacBooks, iMacs, Mac mini, etc.) and peripherals.Experience with MDM (Mobile Device Management) solutions such as Jamf, Munki, or Apple Business Manager.Knowledge of network protocols, VPN configurations, and integration of Mac systems in mixed OS environments.Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and system management.Soft Skills:Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality support.Preferred Qualifications:Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA) certification.Experience with cloud services and integration (e.g., iCloud, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365).Knowledge of Windows and Linux environments.To Apply:Submit the requested documents to careers@stowers.org or to Administration Department, Stowers Institute for Medical Research, 1000 E. 50th Street, Kansas City, MO 64110.
