Principal Software Engineer - Trust Intelligence Platform

Our Security Software Engineering team builds and operates highly scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems to deliver cloud-scale security software services. We provide the fundamental building blocks to improve and preserve customer trust in Salesforce's products across multiple public cloud substrates and our own network infrastructure. We architect and implement our services, to protect Salesforce products/infrastructure and defend against malicious attacks. You will have the unique opportunity to learn from the best industry security experts and integrate that into your software and service engineering.

We are looking for an experienced engineer to help bring all security data across all substrates from all Salesforce Business Units into a world-class security data lake that supports timely detections and responses to information security events across Salesforce applications, infrastructure, and services. We will strive to make security easy, seamless and automated to remove friction, human error and achieve an economy of scale that supports Salesforce accelerated growth. Achieving this vision requires collaboration across Salesforce and the industry at large.

Responsibilities

Partner with various Salesforce organization to automate the log ingestion to minimize service owners' engagement.

Design and implement new data ingestion paths to optimize the data collection for scale, cost, operation & performance.

Drive consistent DnR onboarding experience for data quality, discovery and reliability.

Assist in technical authority, vision, documentation of operational procedures and guidance to ensure the continued evolution of the platform.

Operate in an Agile development environment, including participating in daily scrums.

Support the team’s engineering excellence by performing code reviews and mentoring junior team members.

Required Skills/Experience

Communication. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Industry experience: 10+ years, including:

3+ years experience in developing Spark applications.

Expertise in designing, implementing and operating large-scale distributed systems.

Experience building services with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Spinnaker.

Experience in Public cloud, including building platforms in AWS, GCP, or Azure through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

Programming: Proficiency in object-oriented and multi-threaded programming in at least one of the following languages: Java, Python, Golang.

Big Data: Proficiency and experience with relational and NoSQL databases, message queues (Kafka, SNS/SQS, etc), Spark and other components in data pipelines.

Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.

Team. Ability to value team success beyond personal contributions.

Education. B.A/B.Sc. in Computer Science/Engineering with equivalent years of experience.

Desired Skills/Experience

Platform development. Proven track of designing and coding large-scale PaaS or IaaS systems.

Good knowledge with network technologies, such as TCP/IP, DNS or load balancer.

Security. Strong fundamentals knowledge in security concepts: authentication/authorization frameworks (e.g., SSO, SAML, Oauth), secure transport (e.g., SSL, TLS), identity management (e.g., certificates, PKI).

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $204,400 to $296,400. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
