It’s possible!As a member of the Global Engineering and Construction Department, the Technical Project Manager is responsible for executing projects by planning, organizing, and controlling all elements of the project, from inception to plant start-up. This individual will collaborate with all functional groups within James Hardie, equipment vendors, and engineering partners to ensure that all project requirements are met as laid out in the Project Expenditure Request (PER), and mentor those supporting the project through functional assignments & matrix organization.The job will require leading vendors, functional teams and contractors through all phases of Capex projects ranging from $250K to $20M including safety, design engineering, scope, schedule & budget development, construction, and commissioning. To effectively serve in this capacity the Technical PM is expected to act as the liaison between EH&S, finance, legal, engineering, R&D, manufacturing, and the field execution teams to ensure all functions are represented and engaged. The PM is also responsible for high level project deliverables including development of resource management plans, project execution plans, continuous improvement plans, capital planning and monthly project reporting.What You’ll Do:The accountabilities of the project manager include, but are not limited to:Prepare and issue RFP’s to engineering consultants, equipment vendors, contractors and/or EPCsInternally develop P&IDsDevelop/manage safety, scope, schedule, and budgetConduct engineering reviews with consultants, vendors, contractors and plantsEffectively conduct PHA’s, HAZOP’s and JSA’s for all processes and equipmentEnsure Management of Change is adhered to on all capex projectsSupport FEL process for new Capital ExpendituresVerify the fulfillment of CER requirementsCoordinate the creation and dissemination of major equipment specifications developed by SMEs to the procurement teamEngage procurement to define and manage vendor deliverablesReview and approve payment milestones and invoicesEnsure that all equipment, valves, and instrumentation are procured based on specification and scheduleCoordinate communication with key stakeholders throughout the project life-cycleDefine and coordinate commissioning and start-up activitiesIdentify and assist in coordinating solutions to operational problems after start-upProvide progress reports and financial updates on assigned projectsUnderstand applicable construction codes and permitting requirements for the plant location, with assistance from engineering support staffWork with engineering/drafting to resolve field engineering design issues and constructability concernsThere will be 60+% domestic and occasional international travel as demanded by project schedulesWhat You’ll Bring:Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringMinimum 5 years’ experience in a project or design engineering role focused on mechanical equipment or equipment systemsProject Engineering experience with an EPC contractorStrong multi-tasking skills, analytical skills, project delivery & financial skillsPMP Certification and/or PE preferredProficiency with MS Office applicationsFamiliarity and experience with site construction managementStrong oral and written communications skillsAbility to work effectively within a team-based environmentEncourage Voice of Operator input/Feedback to define functionality of equipmentPlant and/or equipment layout experience with Maintenance access and functionality in mindUnderstanding of construction techniques, trade coordination, and phasingWhat You’ll Receive:At James Hardie, we recognize that our success depends on our people.
