Your Daily Life at Bethesda Game StudiosImplement, test, and maintain high-performance, observable, scalable backend game systems in Go such as matchmaking, seasons, and crash reportingSupport the integration of backend features with clients by:Exposing secure RESTful APIsImplementing client SDKsCollaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure APIs are used correctly by integratorsWork with designers and other stakeholders to provide technical designs, implementation plan, and timelines for new features and systemsParticipate in a rolling 24/7 on-call schedule to address live issues if they ariseEnsure high availability, fault tolerance, and security of backend systemsTroubleshoot and resolve backend performance issues and bottlenecks using observability tools to identify and resolve issues proactivelyMentor junior engineers and help maintain high coding standards through code reviews, best practices, and automationStay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends to drive innovation in backend architectureQualifications

What Makes You S.P.E.C.I.A.L.You have 4+ years of building web APIs in GoYou have C++ experienceYou have experience working in a Linux development environmentYou have experience working with either AWS or AzureYou are familiar with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD toolsYou have experience modeling data in NoSQL (MongoDB, DocumentDB, Redis, etc…)You have experience with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, InfluxDB, Splunk) for monitoring, logging, and tracing distributed systemsYou have experience with version control systems (GitHub preferred)You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing detailed technical documentsYou have an understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architectureYou have experience building and supporting distributed systems at scalePreferred Skills

Sr. Backend Programmer - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $100,000 - $215,000 per year.ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.At ZeniMax certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, such as merit increases, discretionary bonus and/or equity awards. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are not guaranteed.
