What you’ll be doing...

As a Storage and Virtualization Engineer for the Public Sector Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Engineering Services (FENS) engineering team, you will be a network engineer on a multi-discipline team that will deliver and manage the technology roadmap for the FAA infrastructure architecture and Verizon OSS management infrastructure based on Verizon’s solutions and services. As a Storage and Virtualization Architect you will have the responsibility ensure that the Verizon FENS solution meets the FAA RMA requirements. You are well versed across multiple technology disciplines to include but not limited to Enterprise Solutions, MPLS, Cyber Security, Managed Services, Voice services, Cisco DMPVN, Wireless (4G and 5G), application performance, IT, Cloud, Enterprise Solutions, and more. You will work in a cross-functional and cross-organizational environment (including Third party partners) to facilitate and deliver the FENS initial and on-going infrastructure solutions for the FAA complex requirements throughout the life-cycle of the FENS program.

Creating detailed design documents and implementation runbooks.

Understanding of software-defined datacenter solutions to include areas of expertise in, virtualization, storage, rhel or windows operating systems.

Implementing the technical requirements of the associated architecture to meet customer needs and requirements.

Working with internal and external suppliers to understand how certain solutions can be incorporated.

Working in collaboration with the other departments to develop proposals and high-level data center design.

Serving as an escalation point for mission critical incidents and changes.

What we’re looking for...

This role will have design and implementation level responsibility over a complex, multi-data center, virtual private cloud environment. You will have deep hands-on enterprise experience with hyper-converged hardware, VMware virtualization, Software Defined Networks and Dell Storage and RHEL Operating Systems.

You’ll need to have:

Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

Familiarity with Verizon systems like, ESP, GCM, VECRM, Assure1 and Sevone.

Experience in two or more technical areas listed:

Storage

Experience Designing and implementing Storage solutions, including, but not limited to, NFS, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, SMB, Datastores, RDMs, Storage policies etc.

Advanced knowledge with Disaster Recovery methodologies in a virtual infrastructure.

Virtualization

Experience Designing and Deploying VMware clusters from vSphere and ESXi CLI and one or more of the following VMware components: NSX, vSAN, vRealize, vRA, vRO.

Expert VMware experience in installation, implementation, performance and troubleshooting of Vcenter/ESXi.

Compute and Cloud

Experience Designing and Deploying Hyper-Converged hardware (Cisco, Dell, Nutanix).

Experience Designing Disaster Recovery infrastructure to include Cloud based workloads.

Experience Designing Hybrid Cloud environments including storage solutions and compute resources.

Operating System

Advanced knowledge Designing and Implementing RHEL or Windows Server Operating systems.

Experience implementing Hardening or STIGs for RHEL or Windows Operating Systems.

Experience with Automation and configuration management.

Experience with technical documentation creation.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

VMware certification(s).

EMC/NetApp Certification(s).

Red Hat Certification(s).
