The

Metrology Specialist

works with engineers to devise ways to measure new products or tools using various measurement systems by implementing and interpreting accepted units of measurement as they relate to the medical component industry. This will include designing test fixtures, creating measurement programs (and measuring qualification/validation parts, as needed), developing method validation protocols such as Gage R&R or equivalent, assisting in validation activities, and writing applicable test method reports. The Metrology Specialist will also analyze and test various measurement methods to ensure they meet the SGPPL internal standard requirements for repeatability and reproducibility. They will also troubleshoot and provide solutions for appropriate method fixes based on the data analysis outputs.Required Qualifications

Must have intermediate knowledge of Measurement Systems AnalysisPrevious Nikon VMA programmingGD&TKnowledge of Quality system and processesGeneral problem-solving skills to resolve quality issuesBasic math skills, ability to learn and use Microsoft Excel and WordCGMP & GDP GuidelinesProficient use of Microsoft TechnologyAssist with SPC activities and root cause analysisAbility to learn and use communication skills to communicate with co-workersAbility to provide customers with feedbackCompliance to ISO13485 & FDA 21 CFR Part 820Duties include but are not limited to:Create Nikon programs for New Products, Existing Items, Prototypes, tool measurements, etc.Provide technical assistance in area of expertise to other technicians & disciplinesDrafting Final Reports and present (if necessary)Read and interpret prints (dimensions & tolerances)Understanding of basic problem solving skills, including statistical analysis, and ability to use these tools to drive root cause identification and problem solvingConduct Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility Studies, Capability Studies, & Correlation StudiesDesign Concept, prototype, and modification testingCreation of work instructions and related documentationConducting validation activities, as requiredTesting of design concepts, prototypes, and modificationsMeasuring qualification/validation partsOther duties as assignedAdditional Description

Background:Background skills would include skills associated with an Associate’s Degree or equivalent education and experience. Bachelors preferredMust have experience working with statistical methods and continuous improvementMust have knowledge and experience of methods and toolsProficient with MS Office SuiteExcellent analytical/problem solving and interpersonal skills requiredMust work well in a team-based environment. Possess ability to adapt to change in the environment, be task oriented and work independentlyStrongly prefer hands-on experience working in a technical quality role supporting manufacturing (1-3 years)Prefer experience with parts inspection using a video measurement systemPrefer experience with manufacturing processes and productsCompany Summary
