Software Engineer, SME , you will:Lead a team of professionals and conduct software code and/or algorithm analysis across several software applications and products.Provide strategic advice regarding advanced AI / ML concepts, systems, and technologies, to support DHS CBP’s mission needs.Enjoy flexibility in managing your work hours and personal needs with a single accrual leave plan.Responsibilities:Develop Code Analysis Strategy, determine technical objectives, and document an ongoing plan and schedule.Conduct analysis using automated and manual scanning tools (e.g., Veracode, Code DX, Fortify, Checkmarx, Whitesource).Assess industry best practices and latest technologies to ensure best of class code analysis process and tools.Ensure all software measures of effectiveness, measure of performance, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities are documented.Report metrics to gauge software quality, security effectiveness and identify key risk areas.Maintain currency with emerging technologies/tools to identify code weaknesses and security flaws.Use knowledge of application architecture, design, development and secure coding principles and emerging standards to identify findings, communicate risks/remediation.Develop analysis reports with guidance to developers, recommended controls and countermeasures.Present and speak to technical and non-technical stakeholder audience on analysis results.Maintain awareness of the current vendor software security threat landscape.Experience with Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning technologies that predict, optimize, and automate responses to threats.Determine relevant AI / ML techniques to meet DHS / CBP mission objectives.Provide thought leadership to assist in development of AI / ML strategy and program plans.Review complex algorithms; analyze and test to ensure expected results.Ensure measures are in place to increase transparency, accountability, and regularly monitor systems for potential bias and error.AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $170,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
