Job DescriptionThe team you will join: Europe OnboardingWe are building the most convenient and scalable onboarding experience for European people and businesses which is compliant with local regulatory guidelines.We are enabling customers to onboard to Wise conveniently without any unnecessary friction. We make sure that we only ask for information that is easy to provide and effectively helps us combat fincrime.Grow Europe without proportionally growing servicing teams. Automating information collection and review will make the onboarding experience of European people and businesses quicker and help us scale our operation with the growing number of customers.Our onboarding experience should be compliant with regulatory guidelines, and we should have effective systems to stop fincrime.What does it take?7+ years of experience in Java or other JVM-based languages, experience with Spring framework, and a deep understanding of JDBC and database internals.Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Distributed and Concurrent Systems.Experience with machine learning basics (data pipelines, feature engineering, recall/precision, familiarity with machine learning systems in production) is a huge plus.A strong product mindset and passion for user experience; you prioritize work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain points.Being able to work independently on customer problems is key to success - you take responsibility and end-to-end ownership of your projects: drive and own them to ensure we hit the goals we want to achieve.Close collaboration with product managers, data scientists, data analysts, engineers, and other product teams is essential and is something to expect to happen daily.Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to a non-technical audience.Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and designing schemas.You enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development.You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews, and open feedback.Being able to propose technical solutions that optimize for latency and throughput at the same time - i.e., being able to execute fraud checks in real-time even when a significant amount of transactions need to be screened.What does success look like?You'll have a real-world impact by building controls and automations that will enable Wise to offer its products to even more people and businesses across Europe.You’ll have onboarded and found your place through understanding your team and tribe vision and how you can contribute.You’ll understand how our values can help guide your work.You’ll understand the reasons behind problematic payments and customer difficulties and how to go about solving them.You’ll be raising the automation level to enable scaling of the product.Understand our customers and the impact our product makes in their lives.You’ll help us scale up and build a world-class money transfer product by finding solutions to our technical challenges and opportunities.
