Position DescriptionAs Engineer II, you will be a key member of our Data Center Hybrid Cloud development, responsible for development and troubleshooting of high quality SDN solutions for next-gen network HW including Switch, SmartNIC, Load balancer and Firewall, building a cohesive, robust system.You will participate in design, implementation, and unit-test of network OS SW components. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with networking concepts and the ability to plan, prioritize, execute, and manage large projects to deliver network services. This role is central to the GEICO technology organization, requiring a forward-thinking innovator ready to create robust network software components.Position ResponsibilitiesAs an Engineer II, you will:Focus on developing flawless software components for Software-Defined networks spanning Data Center and Hybrid Multi-Cloud environments.Collaborate with senior team members and other engineering teams to solve our network problems.Learn, customize, and support open-source software components related to SDN and network operating systems, including troubleshooting and resolving any system issues.Ensure continuous improvement by judicious testing through the CICD framework to ensure security, stability, and scalability.Utilize programming languages like C, Python, GoLang, or other object-oriented languages, and Container services like Docker.QualificationsExcellent coding skills with the ability to design, develop, test, and operate in a cross-functional team environment.Familiarity with networking concepts and SDN architecture.Familiarity with network protocols or forwarding for Switch.Familiarity with Linux operating systems and programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, GoLang.Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, troubleshooting complex network issues with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues before they arise.Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively with team members within the organization and build strong relationships with external team members.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues.Desired Experience2+ years of professional software development experience.2+ years of experience with systems architecture and design.2+ years of experience in open-source network solutions.2+ years of experience working with hyperscale cloud provider solutions.EducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.Annual Salary$60,000.00 - $160,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
