$90kOverviewA leading manufacturer of metallic pigments is hiring a Project Engineer to join the Operations department. The Project Engineer will be responsible for applying engineering skills and experience to identify and improve safety, quality, production, and cost by planning and executing engineering projects while meeting project cost and schedule objectives. The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement within the operations department, supporting all aspects of our facility and working together with the technical team to develop and integrate manufacturing processes for new and improved products.
Responsibilities
Perform and execute project management and engineering duties, including equipment specification, design, construction, and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
Provide direction in all engineering systems, new installations, repairs, overhauls, modifications, and upgrades of all production and support equipment.
Support continuous improvement programs that allow the plants to operate more effectively.
Ensure all systems are working at optimum efficiency, identify issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
Generate and/or provide supporting data analysis to management for capital equipment justifications for manufacturing operations enhancements.
Partner with Operations Management to develop annual capital expense budgets; manage controllable costs against budget and in relation to changes in production or volume.
Work and partner with the plant leadership team to achieve business goals.
Update site CMMS system to improve Preventative and Predictive Maintenance programs.
Ensure projects are conducted in compliance with quality policies and in accordance with company safety practices and related regulations.
Participate in cross-functional project teams to implement creative solutions.
Interface with Quality and R&D to integrate new products or processes.
Coordinate & supervise contractors and internal maintenance as needed.
Conduct process assessment and problem solving as assigned.
Documentation including but not limited to procedures, training, data analysis, planning, reports, etc.
Update Piping and Instrumentation drawings (P&ID).
Train operation employees in new products and processes.
Support Safety hazard and operability studies, HAZOP/PHA.
Oversee the packaging of hazardous waste generated by activities directed by the engineering department.
Assist in waste characterization of engineering generated waste.
Ensure that contractors are following hazardous waste regulations.
Report any spills or emergency situations to the HSE department.
Participate in annual hazardous waste.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
Required Work Experience
Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
2 years of chemical plant experience.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with project management experience.
Preferred Education & Experience
5 years of experience in an Engineering role.
Experience in capital project management, handling vendors and contractors.
Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S disciplines.
Experience working in a unionized environment.
Day-to-dayThe Project Engineer will work within a mix of office, lab, and production floor environment, collaborating with the technical team and participating in cross-functional project teams to implement creative solutions.
