Launch Systems Engineer II/Senior Launch Systems Engineer
is responsible for the development and maintenance of technical budgets, requirements definition, test planning and execution, and overall management of the systems engineering process for our government and commercial launches. You will support the Space Systems organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors.(Please note: this position can be hired at the Launch Systems Engineer II or Senior Launch Systems Engineer level)WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:Develop and maintain:System requirements and verification techniquesTest methods and data analysis for critical components (energy storage, propulsion, etc.)Range safety analysisDefine and maintain launch vehicle to spacecraft interfaces (ICD development, inhibit definition)Assist with program and product management in securing and executing on launch integrationDevelop, in collaboration with team members, interface specifications, CONOPS definition, and other design documentsQUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL BRING AS LAUNCH SYSTEMS ENGINEER II:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline2+ years of experience working with launch vehiclesAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD clearanceQUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL BRING AS SENIOR LAUNCH SYSTEMS ENGINEER:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline5+ years of experience working with launch vehiclesAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD clearanceTHESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:Master’s degree in engineering or other technical disciplineExperience with MATLAB, Python, and STKExperience with requirement management tools such as JAMA or DOORSExperience supporting government and commercial launchesExperience supporting compliance analysis to AFSPCMAN91-710 range safety requirementsExperience with testing mechanical, electrical and propulsion subsystems and assembliesExperience with spacecraft subsystemsAbility to work in a dynamic environment with competing prioritiesActive DoD security clearanceADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to travel up to 25%, both domestic and international, to support launch and payload integration activitiesMust be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as neededSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focusRegularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writingMust be physically able to commute to buildingsOccasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noiseLevel and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one component of our total rewards package at Rocket Lab.
