OverviewThis position reports to the Manager of IT Infrastructure. The Systems Engineer possesses expert problem-solving, analytical, design and communication skills, in addition to in-depth technical knowledge of systems hardware and software. The Systems Engineer is the subject matter expert for all aspects of system design, development, and support of the enterprise environment for the Company.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain: support technical infrastructure, hardware and system software components, and documentation.

Build redundancy into systems design templates that help prevent potential outages.

Optimize systems infrastructure for highest availability of connectivity to systems and data security.

Monitor systems using tools and automated tasks, to resolve related warnings and outages.

Partner with IT Operations team to ensure maximum system performances and availability.

Follow established IT processes for Incident Response and Change Control workflows.

Design and maintain our on-premises and Azure/Entra cloud environments.

Assist in PoC solutions including the evaluation, deployment, and management of new technologies.

Consult with IT Management and business leaders on new business systems and software packages.

Modify work schedule as needed to perform after-hour maintenance or deployments of new software or hardware.

Act as SME (Subject Matter Expert) in support of the entire IT team.

Work with server hardware/software vendors to resolve failures and warranty replacements.

Learn fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment.

Participate in weekly 1:1 and IT Infrastructure Team meetings.

Communicate current status of all ongoing projects and any servers/systems needs.

Cross-train and/or mentor staff in Server Support functions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Technology or Computer Science.

Minimum 5 years of IT Systems Engineering experience in an advanced technical environment, preferably within a large company (1,000+ employees).

Expert experience in Windows server environments managing 100+ servers across multiple sites.

3 years of experience with a scripting language (PowerShell or other automation language).

Expert experience with Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory & Domain architecture, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, PKI, and management tools.

In-depth working knowledge of hypervisors, converged infrastructure, hybrid-cloud design, Veeam Backup and Replication.

High acumen working and communicating effectively, with all levels of employees and management, vendor, and external partners.

Excellent organization and time management skills to manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.

Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information and maintain professional composure while working under pressure

Expert knowledge of SAN/NAS fabrics and iSCSI, MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer) or other relevant certifications. Audio/Video Conferencing experience is helpful.
