Job Description

MiFiber is seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our Network Operations team. As a Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure, ensuring its optimal performance, security, and reliability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion of our fiber internet services in underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.

The role includes:

Design, implement, and support network infrastructure solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices in a FTTH and fixed-wireless regional network environment. Support, maintain and develop a protected ring environment built upon lit/dark fiber and fixed-wireless.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess network needs, and develop network architecture and solutions.

Plan and execute network expansion projects, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure and adherence to project timelines.

Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain high availability and performance.

Perform network troubleshooting and root cause analysis of network incidents, implementing appropriate resolutions and preventive measures.

Ensure network security and compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Participate in the evaluation and selection of network technologies, equipment, and vendors.

Keep abreast of emerging networking technologies and trends, evaluating their potential application to enhance Core Fiber's network infrastructure.

Document network configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and other team members.

Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve network-related issues and escalations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or 10 years of equivalent experience. Relevant certifications (CCNA, CCNP, etc.) are a plus.

Extensive experience in network engineering, design, and implementation, preferably in the telecommunications industry. Experience with the fixed wireless industry is required.

Strong knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and standards, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and VPNs.

Experience with routing and switching equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik, Nokia and Calix.

Experience with fixed-wireless gear from vendors such as Cambium, Ubiquiti, Tarana, Aviat, DragonWave.

Proficiency in network security concepts and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control lists.

Hands-on experience with network monitoring and management tools.

Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues efficiently.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Familiarity with fiber to the home (FTTH) networks is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $92,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
