The candidate must clear government background and fingerprinting checks.DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIESSAS is seeking a full-time Senior SAS Administrator to work with our client, a Government client.The client requires an experienced SAS Platform Administrator to administer a SAS 9.4 platform on a

Linux OS . The client has both SAS 9.4 and Viya environments. This role acts as a SAS subject matter expert and liaison to SAS users and IT.This position will ensure that the SAS servers, as well as applicable security infrastructure and its systems and processes, are aligned with tactical and strategic information management initiatives. The Administrator will assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of various SAS products while troubleshooting system-related problems and be responsible for the overall availability of the SAS environment. Other responsibilities include maintaining the SAS software roadmap, presenting technical briefings to the support staff, developers, and the management team.QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIALA minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required and equivalent work experience required.Minimum 5 years of experience as a SAS system administrator.Expert in the installation, configuration, deployment, and support of SAS products for Windows workstations and Linux servers.Hands-on experience as a SAS administrator of the 9.4 suite in a Linux environment performing system monitoring, log analysis, performance analysis, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Any Viya administration experience is a plus.Administer, maintain, and tune the SAS platform environments. Provides SAS Platform capacity planning, metrics, and performance tuning recommendations.Experience with Security and Authentication and SSO topics (related to the access of source data within SAS on the SAS servers across the different business organizations).Experience using SAS Management Console (SMC).Server Skills.Security and Authentication (related to the access of source data within SAS on the SAS servers across the different business organizations as well as SAS integration with tools such as Active Directory/LDAP/) across multiple SAS products.Ability to install hot fixes, service packs, upgrades as well as add-on software components.Understand basic Windows commands that will enable you to monitor SAS jobs, ability to move around in a Windows environment as required for basic functioning of SAS and a good understanding of how Windows and SAS are integrated.Be knowledgeable of Base SAS programming (DATA step), SQL programming (i.e., use of SQL pass-through or PROC SQL).Experience in troubleshooting SAS Platform and client issues to root cause.Good written and spoken communications skills in English and thought-leadership skills.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIESHands-on experience as a SAS administrator of the 9.4 suite in a Linux environment performing system monitoring, log analysis, performance analysis, performance tuning, and capacity planning.Performs client installations & troubleshooting, uses SAS Management Console to define connections to data sources, define libraries, and create metadata objects and folder structures and manages permissions to metadata folders.Designs, implements, and maintains platform security via SAS Metadata, Linux operating systems, LDAP/Active Directory, and data warehousing environments and manages metadata identities, users, groups, and roles.Configures and tests communication between SAS and multiple relational databases and collaborates with storage, server, LDAP, DBAs, and other IT administrators to support ongoing operations for meeting the business needs via the SAS environment.Assists vendor with SAS software administration; including software updates, patches, and hotfixes as needed on Microsoft Windows Server platforms and performs SAS software configuration and license renewals as needed on Linux platforms.Serves as an escalation point for production and/or platform issues and acts as a liaison with SAS Technical Support to resolve outstanding issues within the SAS environments.Provides SAS Platform capacity planning, metrics, and performance tuning recommendations. Executes actions necessary to achieve and maintain optimum SAS platform performance, reliability, and availability.
