In this role you will be responsible for providing functional and technical expertise to projects and assignments pertaining to critical Business units in the organization. You will bring both engineering and IT perspective to the services and state of the art solutions provided by the department.ISO New England’s Day Ahead & FTR Application Support team is focused, passionate, team-oriented, and results-driven. This role requires that the candidate bring both engineering and IT perspective to the services and state of the art solutions provided by the department.Planning, coordinating, and performing complex technical assignments related to software applications in support of the Day Ahead Market Admin, FTR/ARR Market, Forecasting, Markets Monitoring and Outage Coordination groupsAnalyzing, designing, programming, troubleshooting, recommending solutions and implementing fixes associated with Market System applications24 x 7 support for Day Ahead and FTR Market applications as neededAssisting in the development of RFPs and evaluation of resultsCoordinating with consultants and vendors on project deliverablesLead IT Support activities for one or more business areasFollow the Change Management and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) policies and procedures during the course of the workWhat you need to be successful in this role:Talented Computer Science Engineer or Electrical Power Systems motivated to contribute to the IT solutions that provide value to our Business users.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fieldMarket Systems Experience within the electric utility industry or Programming experience in Electric Utility IndustryWorking knowledge of bulk power system operations and energy market operationsWorking experience in Oracle, SQL, Postgres, PL/SQL development and Microsoft SQL serverExpertise in Java or Microsoft .Net and associated technologies such as J2EE/Web Technologies, Spring boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, Apache Struts, Microsoft Web frameworks, XML, JMS, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Ant, Apache Camel etc.Hands on work experience with Kubernetes, DevOps, GitOps, Docker technologies and AWSExcellent analytical, verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work both independently and as a Team LeadDemonstrated experience dealing with challenging situations and communicating different problems to a wider audienceAbility to participate in an on-call rotationDesired not required
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related fieldExperience with the GE Grid (previously ESCA or Alstom Grid) Market Systems
