This role is critical in shaping the strategic direction of our Integrations platforms & services and will involve hands-on leadership.
As the Asst. Director of Middleware Integrations team, you will guide a talented team of engineers crucial in supporting the business. You will leverage your expertise in emerging technologies and your strategic partnerships within the organization to drive the organization closer to Cloud.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Set a compelling vision for the team, measure and adapt to results through quantitative and qualitative measures of value, outcome, velocity, engagement, and satisfaction.
Develop and grow the team through training, mentoring, and coaching in your team and across the technology organization.
Clarify objectives and remove obstacles and barriers that prevent the team and organization from achieving results.
Guide the team towards operational resiliency and standards by developing and implementing governance through thoughtful automation.
Active participant in setting Standards and engineering best practices for an engineering domain.
Active participant in setting technical roadmap and technical vision for a broad set of technology disciplines.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS or related field; or related work experience beyond the minimum required.
Experience with:
APIs, Events and Messaging platforms is a must.
Deep understanding of API gateways and stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Fundamental understanding of Networking and Linux based platforms.
Modern programming and scripting languages (Python, Go, JavaScript).
AWS Cloud Services (AWS Certified Preferred) and containerized applications and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Minimum 3 years’ experience planning, organizing and managing activities of others as direct reports or project teams.
Experience with engineering full software development lifecycle best practices including requirement gathering, design, testing, architecture, security, compliance, implementation and support.
Ability to bring together the work of many teams and individuals into a cohesive, achievable plan that aligns with goals and deadlines.
Ability to break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable ones, and help others to do the same.
Ability to coach and mentor less experienced engineers, along with assigning stretch assignments, and develop development plans with reports.
Compensation Range:
Pay Range - Start: $133,140.00
Pay Range - End: $247,260.00
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment.
