What's in it for you:We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Engineering Team Lead who will be responsible for leading our team of ML engineers (aka Applied ML Scientists) that are driving applied research in ML/AI and bringing innovative solutions to data-driven customer-facing products. You will lead the development of the state-of-the-art machine learning models including leveraging cutting-edge NLP Techniques such as Large Language Models (LLMs).
You'll have the chance to lead a Machine Learning team who work with full-stack development teams on a variety of Machine Learning problems including but not limited to document summarization, information extraction, semantic search, question answering, text classification, personalization. You will be collaborating with subject matter experts to gain valuable insights and use their domain expertise to guide building high-quality machine learning models. You will closely be working with product owners, our domain experts, data engineers and front-end engineers to build and integrate ML solutions to our product.

We'll trust you to:Work with your team and cross-functional partners to identify opportunities and define and influence the product and technical AI roadmap and long-term strategy.Lead the development and execution of our AI roadmap and long-term strategy which includes translating complex business requirements into effective machine learning solutions from inception to delivery and articulate the impact using metrics.Stay at the forefront of advancements in machine learning, bringing cutting-edge research and industry knowledge into the team around NLP, information retrieval, machine learning, generative AI and related areas.Support the development of team members by providing technical guidance, helping them develop skills and empowering them to make decisions.Communicate and collaborate with Data and AI Platform teams to bring/use technologies to make ML Development more scalable and efficient.
You'll need to have:5+ years of ML industry experience (or PhD with 4+ years of ML industry experience)2+ years of experience recruiting and managing applied machine learning teams for product development including performance management.A track record of using leadership skills and experience in establishing the technical direction to lead the team to deliver multiple projects in an ambiguous or high impact area while keeping a positive work environment and inspiring and motivating the team members.A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field of study.
We'll love to see:Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective machine learning solutions.Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals (algorithms and data structures) as well as modern techniques in machine learning and deep learning, deep learning model architectures (C/RNN, attention/memory, autoregressive, etc.) and extensions (Transformers, LSTM, Autoencoders, etc.)Experience in Natural Language Processing, Question Answering, Generative AI including training and tuning Large Language Models.Understanding of how to build scalable ML systems in Cloud.Legal domain knowledge.Bloomberg is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at our company. Salary Range: 250,000 - 350,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus. The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level. We offer one of the most comprehensive and generous benefits plans available and offer a range of total rewards that may include merit increases, incentive compensation [Exempt roles only], paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability benefits, 401(k) +match, life insurance, and various wellness programs, among others.
