Located in Thomaston, Connecticut, Ward Leonard has worked hard to build a reputation as being a trusted name in powering the defense industry.PurposeThis position is responsible for the programming and inspection of any work using a Brown & Sharpe (B&S) CMM (PC DMIS programming language). All work must be completed according to the applicable dispatch.Develop programs for CMM inspection of complex mechanical detail parts and assemblies using drawings, CAD/CAM data and GD&T standards.Essential FunctionsPrograms and performs CMM inspection of parts and assemblies.Ability to program from CAD-model files in PC DMIS (IGES FILES).Ensures that all CMM programs meet GWP and GD&T principles to accurately, efficiently and repetitively measure products with appropriate methods in a timely manner.Understands and uses GD&T and can interpret various Blueprints.Ability to train others to operate the CMM.Ability to support 2nd shift needs if required.Manages the work flow in and out of CMM to ensure efficient and accurate inspection.Proficient in using various measuring equipment including, but not limited to, optical comparator, calipers, micrometers, height gages, gage blocks, pin gage, etc.Supports all inspection requirements and related work by staying actively engaged.Maintains a thorough working knowledge of company’s ERP systems related to quality modules, engineering masters, part/item masters, reports.Should be able to work with a minimal amount of supervision efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.Perform all tasks as assigned accurately with attention to detail per drawings, specifications, or other operational instructions.Must be able to work independently or in close groups.Performs other duties as assigned by Quality Manager / Lead CMM Programmer I.Must maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area.This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of US Citizenship is a US Passport, US Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate.AccountabilityReports to Quality Manager / Lead CMM Programmer I and alerts of progress and problems.Environmental / Safety / Time Allocation/ Physical RequirementsJob requires standing and walking in a manufacturing facility and use of PPE.Job requires use of a crane to lift heavy objects.Job requires efficient use of a computer and office tools.Education / ExperienceHigh School / Trade School - with 2 to 5 years of QC experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.First article Lay-out experience and proficiency.Ability to apply GD&T to mechanical layout inspection.Computer proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and typical office software.Fairbanks Morse Defense offers a competitive benefits package including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances, and 401k retirement plan with employer match.
