Job Description:
The position is a Surfacing Plans Project Engineer position with the Surfacing Plans Group in the Office of Materials and Surfacing. The purpose of this position is to assemble surfacing plans for transportation projects throughout the state. Duties will include gathering available project information, developing surfacing/resurfacing plans, calculating surfacing quantities, coordinating plans assembly with other DOT offices, initiating plan reviews, and delivering final plans for bid letting.
Work is normally in an office environment with eight-hour work days. A flexible work schedule and remote work request will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties will include gathering available project information, developing surfacing/resurfacing plans, calculating surfacing quantities, coordinating plans assembly with other DOT offices, initiating plan reviews, and delivering final plans for bid letting.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge:general engineering principles as they relate to transportation facilities;construction materials and surfacing types used for highway construction; computers and software used for developing plans and computing quantities.
Skills:communicate effectively;manage multiple projects concurrently.
Abilities:effectively plan, prioritize, and organize work to meet schedules and deadlines;prepare, interpret, and use engineering plans, maps, specifications, and technical reports;work in a team environment and provide work direction to others;interpret and apply state and federal laws and rules and follow department standards;learn department processes, gain knowledge, and take pride in work.
Position Requirements:Only applicants with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field will be considered.
Compensation:The total compensation of Hourly Wage + State/Federal Benefits for a typical year for entry level Surfacing Plans Project Engineer is approximately $88,469.00 annually.
