Phinney Design Group is currently seeking a Project Architect III, based in our Saratoga Springs Office to work with both our Saratoga and Troy teams. This employee is a full-time, licensed architect with approximately six to eight years of experience. This designer works under the direction of others and is responsible for the architectural and technical design of multiple projects. At this level, the designer provides planning, design, coordination, and consultation on projects of all sizes and complexities.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs architectural assignments based on their own designs as well as the design work of others including preparation of plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules. Also responsible for specific design aspects of projects.Assists Project Managers and Senior Project Architects with fundamental management tasks such as budget and schedule.Assists Project Managers and Senior Project Architects with direct client contact and maintenance. In some cases, may lead the interaction with clients on a variety of project types.Adheres to and implements firm-wide contract documentation procedures and standards and may assist with development of new and novel techniques and procedures.Research codes and products. Has familiarity with NYS Building/Fire/Energy Codes and ADA guidelines. Has established relationships with key vendors/manufacturers to assist with project development.Attends in-house team meetings and takes meeting minutes. Attends construction meetings with project managers/construction administrator at various intervals throughout construction.Takes field measurements and documents existing building conditions to develop or modify base plans for a new project. May be responsible for directing field work of other project team members.Works with the project manager and in some instances, leads the project team during the construction process. Evaluates contractors’ submittals and shop drawings to determine if they meet contract specifications and works closely with the construction administration/management teams for the duration of the project.Spends time at job sites to observe construction, makes notes of irregularities or lack of adherence to contract documents, creates punch lists, and interfaces with contractors and clients.Assists in the development of Project Designer/Project Architect Levels I and II as well as junior level staff. Assists with training, reviews work, makes recommendations and answers questions under the direction of the Project Architect/Project Manager.Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum six (6) years as a professionally licensed Project Architect.A Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s Degree in Architecture.Licensed in New York State or capable of receiving reciprocity in New York State.Highly experienced and proficient working in Revit and related 3-D software in producing original design and drawing packages.Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent communication skills; detail-oriented; highly organized; self-motivated; accurate.IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL have:
Specific experience working on hospitality and/or high-end residential projects.Expertise in residential and commercial client interaction and has a history of successful outcomes.LEED Certification and/or similarly recognized sustainable design accreditation.Experience utilizing Bluebeam PDF Review software.Experience in utilizing the Lumion Rendering Software to produce high quality renderings and presentation materials.Demonstrated ability to work directly with Project Managers and in many cases lead the team during client interactions.Experience working in a Business Development capacity with preparing proposals and answering RFP’s/RFQ’s and actively pursuing new business for the firm.EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:
