Operating at an unparalleled scale, we devise solutions for critical business issues, catering to the demands of millions of Walmart customers worldwide.Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Search Indexing Platform team. This role requires deep involvement in numerous executive and cross-functional business initiatives. You will assume responsibility for driving the development of your unique bottom-up product and tech roadmap, as well as nurturing the team's growth. As the leader, you will mentor your team in resolving intricate technical and product challenges. Your role will also encompass significant involvement in strategizing and implementing roadmaps for diverse initiatives. This position offers an ideal platform for a proficient engineering leader to foster engineering excellence and a positive team culture.What you'll doYou will be responsible for the hands-on leading and directing of end-to-end project initiatives and teams in tactical and strategic capacities. You will join a very high-performing team seeking those challenging us to become even better.You and your team will be deeply involved in many executive and cross-functional business initiatives. At the same time you'll be responsible to drive your bottom-up product and tech roadmap and grow the team.As a leader, you will be guiding your team on solving complex technical challenges as well as product challenges.You will be deeply involved in building the strategy and roadmap execution for various initiatives. This is the ideal platform for a capable engineering leader to drive engineering excellence and culture.What you'll bringMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with a Master's degree considered a valuable asset.2+ years of experience in managing software teams and delivering successful projects.Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.8+ years of hands-on programming experience using Java or another object-oriented language.8+ years of demonstrated expertise in developing and overseeing large-scale distributed systems, with a focus on scalability, availability, and fault tolerance, utilizing big data technologies such as Spark, Cassandra, Kafka, and Redis.Possess a strong grasp of distributed systems architecture and design principles.Advanced knowledge of intricate software design, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.Additional Qualifications:Proficient in monitoring and analyzing application performance, stability, and success rates, and utilizing data-driven insights to enhance overall performance.Exceptional technical debugging and production support capabilities.Skilled in scripting using shell or similar scripting languages.Familiarity with cloud technologies, particularly Azure or Google Cloud Platform.Capable of operating efficiently and autonomously in a dynamic and fluid environment.Strong oral and written communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration.Exposure to information retrieval, statistics, and machine learning concepts.About Walmart Global TechImagine working in an environment where one line of code can make life easier for hundreds of millions of people.
