System Security Engineer
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
We are looking for talented and passionate engineers who are at the beginning of their career and are interested in gaining experience in system security engineering in a progressive and developmental environment. Who we are:
In this role, you will be based in the Electrical, Electronics, Software, Control System Design, and System Security (E24S) capability group. This group is part of the Rolls-Royce Engineering, Technology and Safety, the central home for engineering skills in the Rolls-Royce group.
The E24S group is made of a diverse group of engineering areas covering Software (traditional and model-base), Systems, Electronics, Electrical Power, and System Security. We work closely together in the design, integration, testing, in-service support, and supply chain management to ensure our customer’s needs are met.
What you'll do:
System Security Engineers work on a wide range of technical problems to support Rolls-Royce’s diverse customer base. Our engineers are involved in:
Contributing to the Secure Cyber Resilient Engineering (SCRE) of our products, applying technical knowledge and providing technical direction as required throughout the product lifecycle: architecture, requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support. Frequently, these activities will be done in a digital environment using Model Based Engineering tools.
Contributing to the development, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, associated guidelines, tools and training.
Contributing to the security life cycle activities (concept through release) including regulatory certification/qualification (ie - The Risk Management Framework, ED-202A / DO-326A, Secure By Design, IEC 62443, etc)
Collaborating with government, customers, suppliers, and industry experts to meet system and program requirements.
Providing feedback on systems security and resilience good practice and help disseminate the techniques, policies, procedures, and knowledge across the business.
Able to work across and communicate with multiple business functions (ie - Software, hardware, maintenance, manufacturing, corporate)
As a System Security Engineer, you will work on a range of different tasks, under the direction of a senior engineer who will help you develop your skills and obtain breadth of experience in system security engineering.
What you’ll need:
Candidates will be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, a problem-solving mindset, along with analytical and critical thinking skills. Candidates will be able to/ have:
Interested in cyber security and cyber threats, particularly as they relate to cyber-physical systems.
Knowledgeable about or interested in embedded systems and the technical skills required to develop, implement, and secure such systems.
Curious about novel and emerging technology solutions and how they might be used to enhance - or degrade - the security of a system.
Outcome-focused with good problem-solving abilities, including an aptitude for finding practical solutions to complex technical problems.
Collaborative and curious, with good communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information in a concise and logical way.
Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum, preferably a Master’s degree student
Relevant Majors:
Educated to degree level Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Cybersecurity
Standing/Graduation Eligibility:
You will receive your degree between May 2024 and August 2025.
GPA:
3.0 minimum
