Training & Development Leader .

This role demonstrates a forwarding thinking approach to the planning and coordinating of training activities, ensuring alignment with, and support of, job family needs and goals. This involves heavy collaboration with job family leaders, trainers, SME’s, etc., to ensure operator training continues to progress and shift teams continue to grow and evolve. The incumbent will develop and implement training materials as necessary with a focus on continuous improvement. The incumbent drives and tracks skill inventory as the main KPI for the role.

Key Responsibilities

Analysis and identification of needed skills within job families and shift teams, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

Development of training schedules and timelines for individuals, shift teams and job families.

Develops and/or updates training materials as necessary, ensuring document control.

Develops and coordinates the process for individual task block qualification (skill checks, written components, simulations, online testing, etc.)

Coordinates schedules and timing for trainers, trainees, SME’s, etc.

Develops and maintains training tracking tools. Tracks training progress and communicates status to leadership.

Coordinates performance reviews and trainee feedback.

Communicates any trainee deficiencies to leadership and assists with action planning and execution as necessary.

Assists in the coordination of maintenance training to include both internal and external sources.

Partners with local agencies for the administration of the Mill’s Maintenance Apprenticeship program.

Identifies training KPI’s and evaluates the overall training system’s outcomes and efficiencies.

Organizes and leads weekly training committee meetings to ensure training plans are in place and being followed

Identifies roadblocks in the training process and helps develop plans to resolve

Directs the hourly training specialists on each of the crews

Required Qualifications

A 4-year bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited university or equivalency of demonstrated experience

Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment

Proven success in building collaborative relationships

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Proficient planning and organization skills

High degree of computer literacy to include MS Office

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of paper mill operations and job tasks performed; Process Engineering background highly preferred.

5+ years experience developing and implementing a training plan/system for a manufacturing facility.

Certification in facilitation, adult learning techniques, etc.

Working knowledge of change management principles

Experience in a union environment
